Interstate Steel Center is an independent steel coil slitting and toll processing company in Los Angeles, California. We slit customer owned carbon flat rolled coil to width on a high capacity precision slitting line, holding width tolerances to ±.005" and making up to 23 cuts in a single pass. Because we don't sell steel, you never hand material to a competitor.
What is steel coil slitting?
Slitting takes a wide master coil and runs it through rotary knives that cut it lengthwise into multiple narrower coils of an exact width. It's how a 60-inch master becomes the precise mults a stamper, roll former, or tube mill actually runs, with clean edges and tight, repeatable width control.
Edge quality and width consistency are everything downstream. Our newest line is built for precision: tight tolerances, minimal burr, and consistent coil set from the first wrap to the last.

Our slitting line is ISC's newest investment, expanding the company from a leveling specialist into full service flat rolled processing under one roof in central Los Angeles.

Why an independent slitter
Nearly every slitter in Southern California also sells steel, so sending them your coil means feeding a competitor. ISC never sells steel. We slit only customer owned material, which makes us the natural overflow and precision slitting partner for brokers and service centers who refuse to route business to a rival.
Built for the West Coast market
We're minutes from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and rail accessible for inbound coil. As tariffs push up import costs, East Coast and Midwest mills and brokers are railing coil west to reach West Coast demand, and ISC slits it for them locally, so they serve the market without owning a plant here.
